Solemnity of Corpus Christi Mass & Procession
On Sunday, June 14, Bishop Thomas Wenski celebrated Mass at the Cathedral of St. James, in Orlando. Following the Mass, Bishop Wenski, while holding a monstrance containing the Blessed Sacrament, lead a procession from the Cathedral to Lake Eola.
The procession continued around the lake with eight stops along the way for prayer and song. During each of the stops, the monstrance was placed on an altar of repose and the processors genuflected for personal prayer. Each altar was represented by the different ethnic and cultural groups of our Church: Portuguese, Vietnamese, Haitian, Korean, Hispanic, Filipino, Polish and African.
The procession concluded at the Lake Eola band shell. Where everyone participated in the Benediction of the Most Blessed Sacrament and a Gospel passage was read in eight different languages.
